Your tour guide and driver will pick you up from your Kunming hotel in the morning to travel to the Bird and Flower Market, a vibrant shopping and sightseeing center with a true local flavor. Enjoy a multitude of shops and stores along the long and narrow streets displaying a huge variety of flowers, various kinds of plants and all sorts of seeds. Bonsais and tree-root carvings are also available. In addition, ornamental birds, goldfish and red carp, fish tanks and fishing tackle can also be found here. The market also acts as a trading center for various kinds of antiques, including jade objects, ink slabs, ancient coins, porcelain and other handicrafts. After a 1.5 hour drive 90 km along the highway, arrive at the Stone Forest where you can marvel at the phenomenon of the broad expanse of karst limestone pillars in fantastic shapes that resemble a forest when viewed from a distance. Formed by the movement of the earth 270 million years ago and exposure to wind and running water, these extraordinary formations are of considerable interest to geologists, while the forest is home to the Yi minority renowned for their diligence, embroidery and dancing.
Commit to memory the extraordinary images as you enjoy the beautiful views from different lookouts as you spend about 2-3 hours in the park.
